Manchester United news and transfer rumours LIVE S.L Benfica build up and fixtures latest
Benfica vs Manchester United UEFA 2017 |
The United squad flew out from Manchester airport on Monday afternoon, including Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo.
However, only 18 can make the match day squad, and therefore four players will end up watching the game from the stands.
Shaw played for the reserves at the weekend, while Rojo is not expected to return from a serious knee injury until around December. The Argentine did make the trip to Moscow last month but was a spectator.
Eric Bailly was not among those photographed after suffering an injury on international break, while Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini remain absent.
Mourinho is set to face the media this afternoon and is sure to be asked about the injury status of all his players.

How have Benfica done so far?
Despite being tipped as Manchester United’s biggest rivals in Group A, Benfica struggled in their opening two games. As well as suffering a shock 1-2 home defeat to CSKA Moscow, Rui Vitoria’s side were hammered 5-0 away to Basel in their second group match.
But, Jose Mourinho maintains they are United’s biggest threat and will be taking nothing for granted in what is, traditionally, one of Europe’s trickiest away days.
Brazilian striker Jonas, too, is in good form despite his side’s overall troubles and has already scored 10 goals this season.
